Please letter form the CRA Board of Directors
Update - March 3/10---as per our board meeting on March 2/10, we will be leaving the rake to after 5. We thank all members for there input and suggestions.
We held our annual committee meeting on Jan 23 and it was well attended by most committees.
One major concern that most committee’s had was regarding the number of rakes in the barrel racing. They feel that raking after 5 is too few of runs and would like to see the number changed. They feel raking this many times puts downtime in an action packed rodeo.
We as the CRA Board of Directors want to make sure that we keep our ground safe and fair for the barrel racers, but also want to work with the committee’s to help them run a smooth rodeo. The CRA membership appreciates all the committees do to put on a rodeo and without committee’s we would not have any rodeos.
The CRA Board of Directors is being pro-active and would like all Barrel Racers to send in any possible solutions to meet in the middle somewhere between the barrel racers and the committee’s.
One possible solution that has been suggested is:
That we ask the committee’s to rake at half of the runs in the first performance, to a max of 10 runs, and then do the same for all performances and slack. If they have an odd number the number would be rounded up. This would be for the Ladies and Juniors and the rakes could be different for the Ladies and Juniors because they are classed as a separate event.
Examples: If a committee chooses to have 9 barrel racers in the first performance, they would rake after 5 for the entire rodeo.
If a committee chooses to have 16 barrel racers in the first performance, they would rake after 8 for the entire rodeo.
If a committee chooses to have 30 barrel racers in the first performance, they would rake after 10 for the entire rodeo.
