Attention:  Barrel  Racers

With our season finally underway I would just like to remind you all of a few rules we need to follow, these rules help us, our competitors , our committees and our association, so please take a few moments to review the association rule book.

Please be familiar with how to mark the barrel pattern, I have attached a guideline for boxing the electric eye, we need to ensure this is done on each pattern we mark,  it keeps the scoreline square to the pattern  so it is the same distance for a left handed approach or a right handed approach.

 If you are unsure of how to properly mark the barrel pattern, ask some of the other girls for help, we are entered and we need to help each other, with that being said remember to be courteous to people wanting to offer help,  with more help the faster the pattern can be marked. There is guideline in the rule book on how to mark the pattern, (page 23) however we do need to make one (1)  adjustment ,  the arc should be no more than 15 feet of the width.  (ie: if your distance between 1 and 2 is 60 feet,  your arc should only be 75 feet at the most)

Page 24 rule 5: 

• prior to the first performance or slack, the first 2 sr. members  and  the first 2 jr. members must mark the pattern
• prior to each performance, at least one hour before the LAST TWO SR. MEMBERS and LAST TWO JR. MEMBERS must check the markers with a judge and ensure the timers are ready and working’
• if barrels are not properly marked at all, ALL LADIES BARREL RACE CONTESTANTS IN THAT PERFORMANCE OR SLACK WILL BE SUBJECT TO A 50 DOLLAR FINE

Page 24 rule 12:

• once barrel markers have been placed, NO practicing is allowed on the marked course, however, at the JUDGES DISCRETION, FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, A TEST RUN MAY BE RAN ON THE COURSE.
• for the purposes of practicing, the barrels MUST BE PLACED AT LEAST 15 FEET FROM THE MARKERS’

Page 24 rule 13:

• No contestant shall run a practice barrel pattern in the arena within ONE (1) HOUR  prior to ANY  performance or slack, during intermission, or during the rodeo

I would like to take this time to thank all the girls for doing such a great job, and always being there to help, especially getting the eye and barrel bag to and from our rodeos, I really do appreciate all your help, and keep up the great work on having our event run so well at the rodeos. This letter is just a reminder to all of us including myself of some of the rules we sometimes overlook. Good luck to each and every one of you, and safe travels this summer.
